The HALO Trust is the world’s largest and oldest international humanitarian mine action non-government organisation (NGO). Our mission is to lead the effort to save lives and restore livelihoods for those affected by conflict. HALO is known for its work to clear landmines but is very much involved in the disposal of other explosive hazards such as bombs, rockets, missiles, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs). HALO was established in Afghanistan in 1988 and now employs over 8,500 staff in 26 countries and territories.
HALO Programme Officers (POs) are integral in all phases of projects from planning and securing funding, to team and partner coordination, to data gathering, analysis, reporting, and feeding back achievements and lessons learned. The primary roles of the PO are to manage donor contracts, to mentor and manage community outreach teams who conduct mine risk education and socio-economic surveys, and to coordinate the monitoring and evaluation efforts for all programme activities.The successful PO will monitor and evaluate the impact of HALO’s work in Somalia through a variety of activities.
The position is based in Mogadishu and liaises with both internal and externa l stakeholders as well as management of both the Mamp;E office staff and the CORE teams. The role involves field travel across Somalia with intermittent requirements for travel across the Horn of Africa. The role is also responsible for all aspects of Gender Empowerment within the programme.
