Barbaricum is seeking a Military Assistance Coordinator to provide support to the State Department's Bureau of African Affairs, Office of Regional Peace and Security (AF/RPS) and the African Union Mission In Somalia (AMISOM).This individual will provide program management, design inputs, end-use monitoring, and oversight support for peacekeeping operations assistance to Somalia’s security sector and AMISOM’s counterterrorism and security efforts.Qualifications
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance required
  • Bachelors’ degree in security, development, International relations, public administration, business administration, or a related field
  • Five years of progressively responsible prior professional experience relevant to post-conflict political coordination, stabilization, and transition planning in Sub-Saharan Africa, and which would require familiarity with Somali politics and AMISOM leadership and operational concepts, terminology, research, and policy literature
  • Two years demonstrated prior professional experience working in Africa.
  • Demonstrated prior professional experience in supporting the design and implementation of multilateral programs/projects at a region-wide level
  • Prior professional experience requiring support to inter-disciplinary / interdepartmental teams and task forces.
  • Prior professional experience requiring collaborative work with colleagues in support achieving organizational objectives in high-risk, conflict environments.
  • Ability to write and speak fluently in English.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office suite programs, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated prior experience working with and supporting a U.S. government country team
