Action Against Hunger USA is part of the Action Against Hunger International network. Action Against Hunger-USA has over $100 million in programs, and approximately 1,800 permanent staff based in New York City, Washington D.C, Nairobi, and country offices. Summary of Position

The Deputy Hospital Director will play a crucial role in supporting the overall management and operations of the hospital. Working closely with the Hospital Director, this position assists in overseeing various departments, implementing strategic initiatives, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality healthcare services.

Purpose: The purpose of the Deputy Hospital Director position is to provide leadership, operational support, and strategic guidance to enhance the hospital's performance, optimize patient care, and maintain regulatory compliance.

Engagement: The Deputy Hospital Director actively engages with hospital staff, physicians, patients, and external stakeholders. Collaborating effectively with these individuals and fostering strong relationships is essential for promoting teamwork, achieving organizational goals, and providing exceptional patient experiences.

Essential Job Functions

  • Operational Support: Assist the Hospital Director in managing day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth workflow across departments, and addressing any operational challenges.
  • Strategic Planning: Participate in the development and implementation of strategic plans, aligning the hospital's objectives with industry trends and best practices.
  • Quality Assurance: Collaborate with quality improvement teams to establish and maintain high standards of patient care, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor key performance indicators, analyze data, and generate reports to identify areas for improvement and drive quality outcomes.
  • Staff Development: Assist in recruiting, training, and evaluating staff members to ensure a competent and engaged workforce.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Foster effective communication and collaboration among different departments, promoting interdisciplinary teamwork and shared goals.
  • Patient and Family Engagement: Champion initiatives to enhance patient and family engagement, ensuring patient-centered care and a positive healthcare experience.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • The position will supervise the medical doctors, surgeons, clinical officer, maternity and SC supervisor.

Requirements

Required Qualifications and Professional Experience:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or a related field.
  • Several years of progressive experience in a leadership role within a healthcare organization, preferably in a hospital setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of healthcare regulations, compliance requirements, and industry standards.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing operational functions and driving process improvement initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles, budget management, and cost control measures.
  • Experience in leading and managing teams, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
